Our Engraving Machine 

We use a brand new professional engraving machine, designed specifically for engraving tankards of all shapes and sizes.

It is one of the best on the market and uses a diamond tip to engrave with very high accuracy onto our tankards, ensuring that even the smallest details are captured in the desired way.
We have hundreds of fonts already stored on the machine, and can engrave logos, motifs and other graphics with ease. See below for more information.

 

Text Engraving

Engraving a special message onto one of our tankards is an easy process and comes with great results.

We offer a number of different fonts on most items and we've tried to pick a good selection. However, we have a font library of many hundreds of fonts, and can probably engrave in any font if you're able to supply the font file.
We normally place text engraving on the side facing you, when the handle is on the right hand side. However, we can engrave on either side, provided there is space. We don't normally engrave on the base of a tankard as it's not always finished in a way to make the engraving look good, however, it might be possible on request. It's generally not possible to engrave inside a tankard, or on the handle.
If you have any specific engraving instructions, please let us know when you place your order. If no instructions are given, size and layout is left to the engraver's discretion.

Logo Engraving:

We can engrave images or logos supplied by you. We create a digital drawing of the image, and then engrave the drawing onto the tankard.
The better the image you give us, the better we'll be able to engrave it onto the tankard. Ideally it should be easily able to be turned into a line drawing, so a photo isn't great, but a clear, crisp line based logo will work really well.

Tips on providing a great image:

- Black and white images, with white backgrounds - photographs are not suitable
- clear, crisp lines with smooth edges
- no additional text (text included within a logo or clan crest is OK) - a
- all text should be processed separately as 'Text Engraving' for a better engraving
- as large as possible (preferably greater than 500 pixels in height and width) - the image will be scaled down to fit appropriately on the item
- should be supplied as a .EPS (preferred), .JPG or .TIF

Which side is the front of a tankard?

Our default understanding is that engraving goes on the front of a tankard, unless it’s decorated, then it goes on the back. The front is when the handle is on the right hand side when the tankard is facing you. Text is usually centred both horizontally and vertically. You can tell us exactly what you want in the Additional Instructions text box on the product page. An example is ‘on the front for a left handed person’.
