The Georgian period of British history lasted most of the 18th century and some way into the 19th century, when a succession of kings were all named George. The term is also used to describe the architecture of that period, notably seen in Edinburgh or Bath in England. It’s grand, well designed and elegant.
The handle on this elegant tankard is known as Georgian because it is reminiscent of tankard handles of that period. It is curved to fit comfortably in your hand, with a ‘wee blob’ to rest your thumb against as you lift the tankard to your lips. This provides good balance, and you can hook your pinkie (small finger) around the flick at the bottom where another ‘wee blob’ keeps your hand steady.
The body of the tankard is elegant with double, simple track lines around it. These could frame an engraved message, which would look particularly good in English Script, with the curly design complementing the shape of the handle.
